Le Chat de Cahors

  1. There are a lot of nteresting things going on in this picture: The height of the walls, the narrowness of the alleyway, the desolation and loneliness of the scene, and the curlicues in the bracket for the lantern (an unexpected touch of beauty and art). The cat, who looks almost like a dog, is facing inward, away from the opening, which is a little disturbing visually and makes the viewer linger, looking for some kind of connection and reaction from this sad-looking friend.
